Sexual Intelligence FAQs
How do you know that people were answering your questions about sex honestly?
Several factors contributed to accurate analyses of sexual attitudes and behaviors. The questionnaires were answered privately and anonymously, so participants had no reason to misrepresent their answers. Additionally, all participants completed the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirability Scale (Crowne and Marlowe, 1960), a psychological measure that assesses a combination of denial and self-presentation. We then used this measure in all our analyses to control statistically for any misrepresentation. We have considerable confidence in the validity of our results.
